The Color of Christmas in Davis: Purple is Politically Correct
Section:
Social
Summary:
* Purple is the perfect metaphor for the Season of Hope on this, the shortest day of the Year and the official start of Winter. For Emma Little there is none of this partisan Republican Red and Democratic Blue kind of a fashion statement.
A blended purple is now the statement of acceptance and compromise. It is also the color of Emma’s Chirstmas blouse and of the Scottish Thistle’s blossom.
Main:
* Yoshi, Grandpa’s Japanese lane partner at the 0600 DAM swim at the Davis Civic Pool this morning, was sporting the new look: a blue Zoomer fin on the right foot, and a red Zoomer fin on the left foot.
One had the sense that she was using what worked well for her rehabilitation regime and that she had little truck or time for those with a political cast of mind. She was about the business at hand.

The California Oregon connection in Davis
Section:
Home & Real Estate
Summary:
* The high cost of housing in Davis is table, barber chair and locker room conversation topic number one this Christmas Season.

* Jen Carroll and Tanya Fisk of Eugene and Peoples Natural Construction have recently completed a home at Black Buttle Ranch, the place to stay and play in Deschutes County, near Sisters, the Jefferson Wilderness Area, the upper McKenzie River drainage to Lane County to the west and the spring sourced Metolius River in Central Oregon. There, quality and good value for dollar housing in a western out-of-doors life style setting is now available at the start of the ski season at MT. Bachelor.
* Efficient and site appropriate design, quality construction, natural and local products and attention to detail are hallmarks of the craftsmenship and traditional carpentry handbuilt into this home.
* Jen and Tanya are currently visiting friends and Damon in San Francisco and the East Bay before returning to Eugene.
Main:
* Meanwhile, given the long history of the historic tend of south to north migration of young professional, nature lovers and active retirees, one can expect the property to move quickly. It the investment of time and labor into the project is evident in the enthusiasm of Jen and Tanya after a health summer of building.
* BTW,they are both students of the west Davis Village Homes project and the work of the local designer and developer, Michael Corbett. The good news is that many of the concerns of building in flat Yolo County, like managing water runoff is not a problem in the Oregon Cascades. Long time Davis resident, student, businessman and international biking/ IronMan Triathlete, Steve Larson, as relocated his family to Bend, in Central Oregon. For serious trainers, who like long quit, lava bed rides and runs, hot high altitude conditions, and inexpensive living ,the area has become a year round destination magnet for sportfolk.
