The Sexes in Davis: Members of the Gender and the Generational Divide gather around the table.

It is not an Institute organized International Symposium, nor an advocacy sponsors gathering, but the family table continues to provide one of the most powerful learning and information sharing forum around the world.  It is spontaneous, democractic, practical and necessary

The Davis Senior Center has a variety of conversational centers.  For example,  6 people seated around a round lunch table may discuss opera, plantar fascitis, nuclear submarines, the genetics of race, and swimmers shoulder in less than 30 minutes of food and chat.  Further, bingo, bridge and baby blanket knitting, and book groups problem solve daily. Many get their understanding of the world at the hair dresser’s or the neigbhorhood bar.  The meal table, the crafts table, the kitchen counter, and the game table offer much to be preferred.

It is a joy to watch a retired male humanities professor and a 20 something female dietician respectfully and intelligently exchange their respective worldview prospectives on current hot topics like the genetics of race and gender.  Professor Cavelli would be impressed.  PP&E candidates need not apply.
